How It Works
The Tangem Wallet is a credit card-sized hardware wallet with an EAL6+ certified security chip, communicating with your smartphone via NFC. There is no battery and no cable — simply tap the card to your phone to sign transactions. The private key is generated and stored entirely inside the chip and never leaves the device.
Users manage their assets through the Tangem app on iOS and Android, supporting 14,000+ assets across 80+ blockchains — with send/receive, buy, swap, staking, and portfolio tracking all built in.
Security & Recovery Model
Tangem is fully non-custodial — users hold complete control over their private keys, with no access possible by the company. Cards are sold in sets of 2 or 3 identical cards sharing the same key, so losing one card does not mean losing access to funds. Newer versions also support optional seed phrase backup for users who prefer a traditional recovery layer. Devices are water- and dust-resistant, heat-tolerant, and hardened against physical attacks. Security has been independently audited by Kudelski Security, Riscure, and others.
